Another glorious morning down at Lancing. Went straight to the beach this morning, rigged up and sailing by 9:15am in side shore wave conditions. Stuck up a 4.5m (not smaller) cos the big overnight blow had definately decreased at about 8am, looked more like 5m weather, but I knew it could be changeable and didnt want a bigger sail on the waves. Bit of a wallow out to start with, got thumped back the first attempt, but made it out, gybed on the face and rode a head high set straight away. Probably went 50-60m down the line before gybing off. That set the tone for the session really and the slightly lighter winds meant that the waves were very clean and peeling nicely. As the wind kicked in later, it got a bit messier but the bigger sets were still clean and down the line. It rained the whole time and was a bit squally, but with just three of us out it was very pleasant. At 10:45 the rain brought a big jump in the wind and I was fully powered on the 4.5m. But it swung a bit more onshore and messed the waves a little. Plus its spring tides and they were beginning to break closer to the shore. Basically a recipe for broken kit. we called it a day and I dashed to the office
